Cannabis leaves can turn yellow in any stage of growth and there are plenty of possible reasons why this occurs. However, we can usually narrow them down to 3 most common ones. So, here's a list of 3 most common reasons for cannabis leaves turning yellow.
1. Over- or underwatering
You know how sometimes there's something right in front of you and you just can't see it? Well, this can be easily projected on this reason for cannabis leaves turning yellow since it seems so logical and yet we usually don't recognize it. Namely, sometimes we over- or underwater our cannabis garden, which results in the change of color.
But don't worry, the fix is really simple. If you're dealing with overwatering gradually decrease watering. But if you're dealing with underwatering gradually increase watering.
If you planted your cannabis plants in pots be careful that there's never excessive water underneath them.
2. Burned or not receiving enough light
Another thing you should be focusing on is whether your cannabis plants are receiving enough light. If cannabis leaves turn yellow in the early stage (when they're seedlings) it's possible that the problem is caused by the lack of direct daily sunlight. However, in the later stage of growth and especially if you grow under artificial light, it often occurs that leaves get burned.
So, in the first scenario, the solution is to simply add more light, like find a better spot with more direct daily sunlight or, if you grow under artificial light, consider buying a stronger lighting unit. And in the second scenario, the most ideal approach is to move lights further away.
3. pH imbalance at roots
Lastly, another most common reason for cannabis leaves turning yellow is too low or too high pH at the roots.
To solve the issue, firstly use a pH meter so you'll know clearly what you're dealing with and afterward, add either base or acid to the water based on the results to create the perfect pH for cannabis.
