The Best Time to Plant Cannabis Outdoors

Determining the best time to plant cannabis outdoors is the first step to a nice and big crop. But when is the best time? If you've already grown cannabis in the past, you may know that there's no simple answer to this since many factors like choice of strain, latitude and altitude of the garden, wheater conditions, light exposure, etc. play a key role in determining the perfect time. Nevertheless, there are some guidelines.

The important part here is that you don't plant your cannabis too early or too late. The first might result in the plants dying because of the coldness and the latter might mean that your plants won't have enough time to go through a full life cycle.

So When Should You Plant Cannabis Outdoors?

A general answer to when you should plant cannabis outdoors would be in the late spring or early summer. But keep in mind that if you are growing from seeds, you will need to germinate them 6 weeks to 2 months before actually planting them outdoors. If you wish to avoid this step you can always use clones, however, usually, they're harder to find.

For the countries in the northern hemisphere, this would (in general) mean that you should start germinating your seeds after the spring equinox and should end at least until the beginning of June. While planting them outdoors should take place anytime from mid-April to the start of July.

However, keep in mind that spring in the USA, for example, starts differently than spring in Australia.

In addition, take into account that there's a difference between growing regular or automatic cannabis. You can wait a little bit longer with the latter since it has a shorter life cycle (3 months) and it's, therefore, no worry that it won't fully blossom before the cold temperatures return.

To sum up, giving a specific answer to when to plant cannabis outdoors is impossible. But hopefully, after reading this you're at least a little bit more aware of when it's the best time to plant them.

Happy growing!
