The difference between CBD and THC

Updated: December 5, 2021

As legalization status of marijuana is becoming less of a tabu, we are seeing increases in sales of CBD products. What actually is CBD and how it is compared with THC read below in the article. We must note that CBD is mostly legal, whereas THC is only legal here and there in the world (mostly in the USA). But the world is walking behind with baby steps.

What is CBD and what is THC?

Though CBD and THC are both found in marijuana and interact with the endocannabinoid system, CBD and THC interact with slightly different receptors in a person's brain.

As a result, only CBD is really not going to get an individual high. On the other hand, THC produces the high people associate with using marijuana recreationally. It has to be noted that in CBD only versions of oil or buds, there is a high possibility that there will also be some traces of THC. Both cannabinoids came from the same source - marijuana plant. Because drug tests are testing only the THC compound, you most likely will not be positive.

Healthy benefits of CBD and THC

The healthy benefits of both CBD and THC are really wide. Some experts claim that for proper treatment (cancer, etc.) you need to use strains with both CBD, THC and other compounds to get the whole range of healthy cannabinoids. Some are good for something, others for other things. But even if you take CBD regularly, you increase your metabolism and resistance to illness. You know how they say, better prevent than cure. But don't use it only on yourself, also our pets get the most benefits out of CBD.

CBD is used to help with conditions such as:

  • seizures
  • inflammation
  • pain
  • psychosis or mental disorders
  • inflammatory bowel disease
  • nausea
  • migraines
  • depression
  • anxiety

THC is used to help with conditions such as:

  • pain
  • muscle spasticity
  • glaucoma
  • insomnia
  • low appetite
  • nausea
  • anxiety
