The life span of a cannabis seed can range from six months to ten years, depending on how the seed has been stored. Ideal conditions for storing seeds are in a closed bag or container in a cool, dark and dry place.
How to extend their lifespan?
On the recommendation of some experts, if you want to prolong the life of cannabis seeds, store them in a refrigerator or freezer. In such conditions, the seed would have to withstand ten times as much as stored at room temperature. This method, of course, cannot be applied to all types of seeds - so care must be taken. For best results, we recommend storing cannabis seeds in glass jars with a seal on the lid. Plastic packaging is not recommended due to poor permeability. Germination of cannabis seeds is the most important factor in cultivation because without this process there is no plant. If the seed does not sprout, various factors are to blame. The seed, which appears to be dead, is alive and requires careful care of it.
Why doesn't some seeds sprout?
If hemp seeds do not sprout, several factors are responsible for that. The first problems can occur even before the seed comes from the seller. Seeds can be damaged during picking, packaging and storage. Later, when we buy the seed, problems can also arise with the transfer of the seed to the house. If the seed package is carried along with other hard or sharp objects, it can also be damaged. The possible damage is small and not visible to the naked eye, but it is also enough to cause the seed to lose energy and nourishment or to dry it out and fail. It is also recommended that you do not store the seed packing in a car in the sun so that it does not lose quality. The seed is alive and we must take good care of it if it is to grow into a large and strong plant. Hemp seeds must be stored in a dry place, ideally in a glass in a dark and cool place. Despite all the caution, the seeds sometimes do not sprout. Below we have described two tests that you can rest assured that the seeds will surely germinate.
