Updated: May 9, 2019

Did it ever occur to you that you can lose weight with cannabis? Well, you can! Even though you usually have munchies after smoking, there are strains for weight loss with special terpenes or cannabinoids that have the opposite effect and can be used to treat obesity.

Think about the last time you were hungry but decided to smoke one and after it, you no longer felt the desire to eat.

Recent studies even show that:

  • long-term cannabis users are in general less likely to be obese,
  • that daily smokers have lower BMI readings than non-smokers,
  • that cannabis users have lower blood glucose, etc.

However, more research still needs to be done to understand this correlation. Nevertheless, there are enough proofs that strains with a high level of compound THCV or tetrahydrocannabivarin are responsible for suppressing appetite and can be therefore used to treat obesity. So let us take a look at some of those strains.

Blue Dream is a Sativa-dominant strain, made from crossing Haze Sativa and Blueberry Indica, so it combines the benefits of them both. On one hand, it helps suppress appetite and on the other, it keeps you ready for action. Perfect combination if you wish to lose weight.

2. Harlequin

Harlequin is a Sativa strain with high CBD level (CBD:THC ratio of 5:2) and therefore, perfect to choose for treating obesity since you most likely won’t feel munchies after it. On top of that, because of its uplifting effect, you can use it before doing exercise.
